The Common Sunstar

Photographic Details

The common sunstar ! I hear you say, many people would not have even known that such a thing existed in English waters. It is infact one of two species of Sunstars, the other is the Purple Sunstar, both are seen frequently around the North Sea coasts.

This one was one of several we saw while diving around the old jetty at Petticowick, St Abbs Head.

The shot was taken with a Nikonos IVa using SubaWider suplimentary wide angle lens, film was Kodak Elite 100ASA.

Nikonos V

flash was used, a Helix-Aquaflash on full power with a diffuser, hand held off camera
